A few months ago I was having this conversation at work about how AI was making an impact in our jobs, and today OpenAI has just announced a new feature that integrates apps directly inside chat.

“…My question about AI is how interaction is going to change now that computers understand natural language. If the way we interact shifts to a conversation, what does design look like then?

Imagine that everything now runs through ChatGPT, Gemini, etc., and that this becomes the main gateway to the internet. What does Airbnb look like inside a conversation within ChatGPT? Does all the new visual language they’ve created still make sense? How do you design Airbnb to be a conversation?

I’m not sure screens are going to disappear, but maybe I won’t need to open my banking app anymore just to check how much money I have.”

Now I’m actually scared for my job.
